Lady of the Snows † [a term coined by Rudyard Kipling]
Canada.
- 1905  Kipling came to Canada in winter and visited Quebec City when the snow was piled high. He has ever since called this country "Our Lady of the Snows."
- 1918  The majority--whether Briton, Frank or Celt--accept this dictum and make obeisance to the inexorable law: wherefore, the sons of "Our Lady of the Snows" cheerfully caught hold and lifted with their cousins.
